Power Industry Valve procurement services

HSP are delighted to announce the successful completion of a £1m order for the supply of valves and equipment to a UK CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine) plant.

HSP were first called to site by the maintenance/installation team on-site at the Power Station to help identify installed and incoming Bonney Forge valves.

The problem for the site was that the valves were being procured by their head offices in Europe as part of the scope for the Italian boiler manufacturer, who in turn was purchasing the valves through an agent. But the chain didn’t stop there. The boiler was being installed through a French contractor with support from a UK contractor. With the lengthy supply chain, valves were arriving on site, prior to any documentation. The maintenance team were charged with the task of having critical insurance spares available, prior to start-up of the boilers.

HSP visited site and conducted a survey of the valves already delivered/installed, taking details of the valves which would easily identify the correct specifications with Bonney Forge. However as the supply was not yet complete, this was not enough. HSP were then provided the full material take off’s for the plant, along with drawings for the Bonney Forge valves.

Armed with the necessary information, a spreadsheet was compiled detailing all P&ID references, individual tag numbers, materials of construction, sizes, ratings etc and also detailing Bonney Forge internal part numbers for ease of ordering and finally the required prices and delivery schedules. This was done for manual valves and actuated valves, sizes from 8mm to 600mm, class 150 to 2500lb with a range of materials including chrome moly’s such as F91. Prices were given for complete valves and also a full range of available spare internals, allowing the Client to make a decision on requirements for whether to purchase complete valves or spare parts, based on price against criticality of failures.

Total items quoted for exceed 5000 lines however the Client now has a full list of all possible replacements parts required, along with manufacturers part number for future referencing and ordering.

The professionalism shown and the resulting information provided, led to HSP performing the same process with spares for a wide range of other valves and equipment, leading to further orders.

All resulting orders were handed over to the dedicated contracts department for execution, including regular manufacturer expediting visits and compilation of data dossiers.

HSP have since received a letter of thanks from the Client.
